This is a repaint of Alphasim payware B-24D Liberator "The Sandman". B-24D-55-CO Serial Number 42-40402 9th AF, 98th BG, 345th BS. Robert Sternfels flew the Sandman on the famous 1943 Ploesti raid. The Sandman is pictured in a well known photo of a B-24 just clearing the oil refinery smoke stacks. The plane hit a barrage ballon cable but was able to return to base in North Africa.

FSX St Louis PhotoReal Scenery. This is high resolution, 1 meter/pixel, terrain scenery for St Louis, Missouri (MO). Section Z, is one of 30. A map and descriptions show the section locations and some feature details. This photoscenery is for DAY USE ONLY and will work for any season, but shows only the USGS aerial photo data taken in March 2002. The default FSX mesh works well with this photoscenery and no additional mesh for the area needs to be purchased. The 30 sections of scenery, totalling 2 Gb, contains photoreal terrain textures, encompassing an area bounded by 31.7 E-W and 27.4 N-S miles (about 870 square miles). Each section is independent, but the user may want most or all sections to provide continuity and completeness. By Jim Jones.

"imp" means imperfect, as other mesh I have already processed is of areas that have very little vegetation cover - over the land, or has large urban areas. This "imp" mesh will include some slight discrepancies of altitude (in the case of forested areas - by a magnitude sometimes of +15 metres-depending on how tall the trees are, in the jungle or forest canopy) over urban areas, or areas with a lot of vegetation cover - due to the limitations of the ASTER satellites infra red scanning cameras, and the software used to process the DEM data. Areas where there is little vegetation cover, or non urban areas, the terrain should have truer values. But I feel this ASTER DEM data is so good - why let it all go to waste - especially flying over lovely Pacific islands? So you FSX users out there will have to take all this into account when using this mesh. Grateful thanks to ERSDAC, and NASA for making this data freely available to the public.
