FS2002 Dassault Mirage IIIRS Swiss Air Force, R-2103 The subject of this repaint, R-2103, became the first Mirage IIIRS to reach 3000 hours flying time. To commemerate this operational milestone, the port side (only) of the fin was painted with a large 10 Squadron badge. This special paint scheme has been retained throughout the remainder of the aircraft's carreer. This is an update for FSX of the SU-11 from the FSX Sukhoi package by Michael Pook. This update contains new VC and 2D panels by Mr. Pook. If you like them, thank him. I have updated the flight dynamics, corrected the contact points, and changed the burner flame effect. I also corrected the tail pipe textures so they are not transparent. You can use the nozzle_32.bmp in the texture folder to correct the same problem with the SU-9 from the package by Mr. Pook. This is the whole aircraft.

The Centaurus was the final development of the Bristol Engine Company's series of sleeve valve radial aircraft engines, an 18-cylinder, two-row design that eventually delivered over 3,000 hp. First run: July 1938 Number built: c.2,500 Manufacturer: Bristol Aeroplane Company Major applications: Hawker Tempest; Bristol Brabazon; Hawker Sea Fury Sleeve valve engines were developed to get over all of the problems that were encountered on poppet valve engines! Typical examples of reliability: Civil Centaurus max TBO (Time Between Overhaul) was 3000 hrs and Civil Merlin max TBO 1000 hrs. Setting up the valve timing was intensive work though. The Tempest Trials = Test with LA602 reavealed that the aircraft suffered from engine vibrations. These were solved by mounting the engine on six shock absorbing rubber-packed mountings. These mounts prevented the installation of the Centaurus XII engine (which was originally intended to power production Tempest IIs) and the Centaurus V was chosen as the production power plant.
