P3Dv4+ P-61 Black Widow Airtanker Pack
P3Dv4+ P-61 Black Widow Airtanker Pack (Category: Prepar3d > Vintage)
158.77Mb (289 downloads)
This pack includes two different aircraft. The P-61B Black Widow and F-15A Reporter converted airtankers. The Black Widow based airtankers were some of the rarest aircraft to fly as fire bombing aircraft. Only 2 existed and were the only civilian flying versions of the Black Widow. Both airframes served in the 1960s. Sadly, both aircraft were lost in incidents during firefighting missions in 1963 and 1968. Luckily only one of the incidents was fatal, but both aircraft were a total loss. Not much is known about each aircraft as a result. Both aircraft were capable of carrying 1,600 gallons of fire retardant aboard. Despite both aircraft being based upon the P-61 airframe. The F-15A was considerably lighter and faster than the P-61 was. Both aircraft in firefighting duty had been significantly lightened to increase performance. Anything deemed unnecessary for aerial firefighting was removed from the aircraft. Even the supercharger cooling inlet ducts were removed from the bottom of the engine nacelles to save weight. These aircraft were originally created by Dean Crawford, whom gave us permission to modify and create these unique variants. Many thanks to him as the project wouldn't be possible without his consent. These are only compatible with P3Dv4 and above versions. Airtanker conversions by Nicholas Mitchell and SATO Member "Voodoo."

7.55Mb (289 downloads)
This is a repaint of the BAe 748-B2 in Air Virginia 1983 colors. Air Virginia purchased their first of 3 BAe 748-B2s in 1981. However, by 1985 all 3 BAe 748s were withdrawn from service in favor of an 18 unit Metroliner fleet. This particular aircraft, N748AV, was delivered to Air Virginia in 1981. Textures are 32bit bmp. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. It should work on FSX,P3D v1-3, & FS2004. The freeware Hawker Siddeley HS-748 by Rick Piper is needed for this repaint.
