They took off from Oakland, California on May 31, 1928, and arrived at Brisbane, Australia on June 19. The Southern Cross was, at the time, even more famous than Charles Lindberg's 'Spirit of St. Louis'. The Southern Cross is preserved today at Brisbane Airport.
