This mega package is an FSX update for the FS2002/2004 twin-engine-prop amphibious Sikorsky S-38 by George Diemer. It features all the textures, which are available on the internet and which could be made usable in FSX. The package features 3 entirely reworked and enhanced VCs for the different models as well as a matching 2D panel. The US Army model and the Carnauba were both originally FS2002 models and totally uncompatible with FSX, hence, quite a few of their texture bitmaps nad to be newly designed from scratch to be compatible with the newer models. In addition, the packge features new smoke effect and cabin camera views. Be sure not to confuse this model with the latest update of the Sikorsky S-39, which is a single-engine-prop and was falsely titled "S-38". FS2004 Khe Sanh Combat Base, Vietnam. The site of one of the most famous battles of the Vietnam War. Khe Sanh was originally an obscure Army Special Forces camp perched atop a small plateau in the extreme northwestern corner of South Vietnam near the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Later, 6,000 US Marines of the 13th and 26th regiments, and the 37th ARVN Ranger Batallion were deployed there. In early 1968, Khe Sanh suddenly emerged from obscurity and became front page news all over the world when it was besieged for 75 days by a force of approximately 40,000 North Vietnamese troops. The application of massive US airpower, including B-52 strikes, eventually forced the enemy to withdraw. The model represents Khe Sanh as it was in late 1967, just prior to the start of the siege. (During the siege, virtually everything above ground, including the runway, was destroyed by intense artillery, rocket, and mortar fire. At that time, the base looked more like a prairie dog town or the cratered surface of the moon.) This scenery was designed for FS 2002 but it should work in FS 2004. George Knowles. 824K

Civilian "CS" (Competizione Sportiva=Sporting Race) versions of the known medium and torpedo bomber Savoia-Marchetti S.79 "Sparviero", deployed by Regia Aeronautica, or Italian Royal Air Force, were successfully flown (w/civil marks) in the "Istres-Damascus-Paris (Lindberg Cup)" 1937 air race, where they ranked the first three places of the final scoreboard. The also "civilian" "T" (Transatlantic) version of the very same S.79 performed exceptionally in the 1938 Atlantic crossing Roma-Dakar-Rio de Janeiro and in 1939 experimental test meant to verify the feasibility of an airline passengers and mail line between Italy and South America for the civilian airlines (Ala Littoria S.A.- Linee Aeree Atlantiche, later called L.A.T.I./Linee Aeree Transcontinentali Italiane) over the routes of Southern Atlantic Ocean (Brazil/Argentina/Equador). 3 new different GMax models, covering 3 different versions of the civilian S.79 described above and featuring the standard animated parts, such as all flight controls, props pitch and leading-edge slats. Ten (10) different liveries depicting all the S.79CS team which flew the 1937 Istres-Damascus-Paris Race, the 1938 Roma-Rio de Janeiro Expedition and the 1939 Transatlantic Test flight.
