The F-84 Thunderjet was one of the most important western fighters of the 1950's. It was produced in very large numbers, had a distinguished carreer with the USAF in Korea as a fighter-bomber, and was for a number of years the main equipment of many NATO air forces. Pilots nicknamed the Thunderjet "The Lead Sled". It was also called "The Iron Crowbar", "a hole sucking air", "The Hog" ("The Groundhog"), and "The World's Fastest Tricycle", as a testament to its long takeoff rolls. LUN Ekranoplan (Soviet Navy colors). The Lun-class Ekranoplan was designed in the late 1980s for the Soviet Union Forces. It uses a wing-in-ground-effect concept to skim low over the water at high speeds. The Lun, Russian for 'Dove', is also one of the largest aircraft ever built, rivalling the size of the Spruce Goose. This aircraft is fitted with six fixed-elevation SS-N-22 Sunburn anti-ship missile launchers. It was also known colloquially as the 'Caspian Sea Monster'. Full VC. Read docs how to fly! RAF Hawkinge 1940 Scenery.
RAF Hawking was a frontline airfield during the Battle of Britain.
The airfield itself was the nearest Royal Air Force station
to enemy-occupied France and only some ten minutes flying time
away from the Luftwaffe fighter airfields. Not for nothing was
