FS98 Bell P-39D Airacobra, USAAC 31st Pursuit Group, Selfridge Field, MI, February 1941 (FULL PACKAGE). Originally designed as an interceptor, the US Army requested that Bell redesign the P-39 as ground attack fighter. This led to the removal of it's Allison V-1710's turbosupercharger and enlarging the plane; leading to a marked reduction in performance. The D model was the first combat ready production variant.
