10.14Mb (5648 downloads)
The Prince of Asturias (R-11) has been a STOVL aircraft carrier for the Spanish Navy, until recently the flagship of the fleet. The design of this ship took place when the U.S. Navy abandoned the project of the SCS and the Spanish Navy bought its planes (fifteen shots, and he was just being designed) and instructed the public shipyards Bazan further development and construction of this ship. With almost 196 m long, 24.3 m wide his, a depth of 9.4 m and its 17,200 tons full load was the largest ship of the Spanish Armada until the entry into service of the LHD Juan Carlos I. The air group embarked bear up to 29 aircraft (17 in the hangar and 12 in the parking area of the flight deck). The carrier air force usually consisted of a versatile force, including ten to twelve AV-8B Harrier II Plus, and a dozen helicopters, usually a combination of models, six Sikorsky H-3 Sea King, two Sikorsky H-3 Sea King AEW radar version (Air Early Warning) and four Agusta-Bell AB-212. It entered service in 1989 and was decommissioned in late 2012.

FS2004 Round The World In A Prop : (Category: FS2004 > Adventures)
0.53Mb (5648 downloads)
FS2004 Round The World In A Prop :- A step-by-step guide to successful round-world flying, including comprehensive advice on choice of aircraft, route and flight planning, fuel management, navigation, dealing with weather and time-changes etc. The recommended route consists of 24 legs and the places visited include Australia, New Guinea, Japan, the Aleutians, Canada, the USA, the Azores, Gibraltar, Malta, Egypt, Bahrain, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Borneo, and East Timor; with plenty of sightseeing opportunities along the way. Robert Christopher's excellent Lancair Legacy 2000 is recommended, but this is not essential as the trip has been designed with 'legs' of around 1000nms. and should be achievable in any of the default FS2004 props. Reasonable flying skills are required - particularly being able to land VFR (i.e. without the aid of ILS) - but explanations are included on the finer points of lining up and navigation generally, so as to cater for newcomers to FS.
