Dangerous Landings: 1-5
(Category: FSX > Missions)
5.57Mb (2695 downloads)
In 2010, the History Channel presented its "Most Extreme Airports", which was the inspiration for this mission. Here you are presented with the challenge of takeoff and landing at 5 of them. You will have the option of doing this twice...in 2 different aircraft, the first being a bit easier than the second. Successful landing grants you goal achievement and you are automatically advanced to the next airport challenge. Should you crash or otherwise fail, your airport progress is preserved, thus you do not have to save the mission in progress, simply reload at your convenience. You will fly ENSD, Anda, Norway in the Baron and KingAir; LFLG, Courchevel, France in the PiperCub and Cessna172; LPMA, Madeira, Portugal in the 737 and 747; LXGB, Gibraltar, UK in the CRJ700 and A321; and MHTG, Toncontin, Honduras VFR assisted with hoops and unassisted with 2.5 NM visibility. This mission lacks only the reward, which will be added to final version...Enjoy the Challenge at the "Advanced" skill level.

FSX
Fairchild Model 91 Package.
Built in 1934/35 to meet a requirement for Pan Am for an amphibian
flying boat suitable for operations in South America Amazon
and Chinese Yangtse regions and up to 8 passengers could be
carried in the hull. Some sources say 6 were built (2 going
to Pan Am and 2 to private buyers and 2 to Japan) while others
say 8 were built but I am pretty sure that actually 7 or 9,
including the prototype, were built with a pair serving for
Pan Am, a pair for Brazil, two for Japan and two sold to private
buyers, of which one was later used by the RAF in Egypt. The
confusion could lie in the fact that the Brazillian pair and
the Pan Am pair were the same (ie: Pan Am serving out of Brazil).
The original prototype served with the Spanish Nationalists
after they captured it off the Republicans during the Civil
war years and the RAF also used one in Egypt as an Air and Sea
Rescue type.Model, VC Panel, Panel, flight dynamics By Chris

Polikarpov I-153V2
(Category: FSX > Vintage)
5.36Mb (2695 downloads)
FS2004/FSX Polikarpov I-153V2 Warbird bipe
The ultimate development of the Polikarpov fighter biplane was the powerful I-153 Chaika, with retractable landing gear, either wheels or skis folding to the rear. Coming on line in 1938 some thousands served in the Far East, Finland and on the Eastern Front.
The I-153 was an anachronism, entering service at the time when the biplane had long since been eclipsed by the monoplane fighter.
This is an updated model of the I-153 with more realistic cowling and working frontplate inlets. Finish, Russian and Spanish textures by Morton. GMAX model by A.F.Scrub.
