FS2004
Lockheed L-1649A Starliner, Version 1.0 (W.I.P.)
The Starliner marked the end of the line of Constellation designs.
It had an entirely new wing of greatly increased span (150 feet
as opposed to 123 feet on the "Super G" Constellation),
more powerful Wright R-3350 engines spaced further outboard
for reduced cabin noise levels, and a strengthened undercarriage
to support a gross weight of 160,000 lbs (138,000 lbs on the
Super G). It was designed to fly the polar routes Los Angeles-London
or Paris-Tokyo in just over 21 hours non-stop, and it established
numerous long-distance records, many of them still current today.
Providing accommodation for ninety-two tourist-class or twenty-six
first-class and forty-five tourist-class passengers, the Starliner
entered service with TWA in May 1957. Other operators included
Air France and Lufthansa. It was arguably the largest, widest-range,
and most expensive piston-engine airliner of its day (reportedly
$3,219,550.00). While, in the real world, work has begun on
bringing one of surviving Starliners back to flying status,
you can get the factory-fresh prototype, fittingly registered
N1649, for nothing here. Model and textures by Manfred Jahn,
2D-panel by Hansjoerg Naegele, effects and flight dynamics a
communal effort by the FS9 Starliner team. Note well that, this
being a W.I.P. release, there is no VC yet, the documentation
is incomplete, the flight dynamics are tentative, and a proper
soundset will have to be downloaded separately. See the Starliner
project thread at www.calclassic.com for FAQs, future plans
(fictional L-1549 model, paintkit, VC-equipped 1649A), and a
host of rare historical, technical, and pictorial material.

Boeing 797 VARIG.
There are as yet no official plans for any Boeing 787 or 797.
Up until a couple years ago, most people believed Boeing's next
major project might be a follow-on to the 747 to compete with
Airbus's super-jumbo A380. While Boeing pushed developing an
upgraded 747 model, most airlines indicated that they would
prefer an entirely new design instead. The only publicly released
concept I've come across for this potential new-build aircraft
is shown below. Boeing's internal designation for this design
study was the 763-246C. If it had gone into production, it would
likely have been rechristened the 787 to conform to the standard
Boeing naming convention. Model & textures by J R Lucariny.

Soviet Fighter Mig-19 updated for FSX
(Category: FSX > Military)
30.13Mb (2430 downloads)
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19 (NATO reporting name: Farmer) is a Soviet second generation, single-seat, twin jet-engined fighter aircraft, the world's first mass-produced supersonic aircraft. It was the first Soviet production aircraft capable of supersonic speeds in level flight. This is an FSX update for the FS2002/2004 model by Capt. I. D'Attomo. Unexpextedly, the model works perfectly in FSX but the panels and FDE definitely needed some refurbishing. To my knowledge, this model is the only freeware Mig-19 with a functional VC, because of which I've decided to make it available for the FSX community as well. The package includes 14 liveries: 2 default and 12 repaints by Georgette Kostopoulos. The VC has completely been reworked and the 2D panel is the Mig-15 panel by Pierre Langer, but modified to give it the original Mig-19 touch, equipped with mostly Pierre's gauges. The radar was designed by Philippe Wallaert. Automatic smoke and afterburner effect added. All credits go to the designers mentioned above. All updates and repaint compilation by Michael Pook. The model
may also work in FS2004 and P3D, Version3.

KLM Douglas DC-6 Textures
(Category: FSX > Vintage)
5.34Mb (2430 downloads)
FSX KLM Douglas DC-6 Textures only.
Having been an operator of the Douglas DC-2, DC-3, DC-4 and DC-5, it seemed only logical that KLM (celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2009) purchased the DC-6 for its long-haul routes. Seemed, because KLM already operated the Lockheed L-049 Constellation, the DC-6's competitor. Nevertheless, Connie and DC-6 marched on together quite well. Enclosed in this package are five repaints of DC-6's during several stages in their life with KLM. The 1957 livery of PH-DPP was an interim-livery (see the 'old fashioned' white lettering and the early-fifties style cowlings). The 1962 livery of PJ-DPI seems to have been an attempt to fit into the new house style of KLM without having to respray the fuselage, as the DC-6 reached the end of its KLM carreer anyway. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20x.zip). Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.
