GAUMOD98 (GAUge MODifier for FS98) is a little utility that allows limited modification of GAU files in FS98: that will change the color and the offsets of digital readouts on gauges. It requires the Visual Basic 5.0 driver file (MSVBVM50.DLL). If you don't have this already in your Windows/System folder, download the MSVBVM50.ZIP package from the link below.

Fiat Br 20 Cicogna Regia Aeronautica

Fiat Br 20 Cicogna Regia Aeronautica
The Fiat Br.20 Cicogna (Italian translation "Stork) was created not only as a military instrument but also as an instrument of propaganda for Benito Mussolini's fascist regime symbolic of fascist power.
After the 1935 invasion of Ethiopia by Italian forces, it was decided that a new, modern bomber was required. In 1936, Celestino Rosatelli designed what was considered one of the most advanced bombers at that time. The Fiat Br.20 Cicogna was a low-wing, twin-engine monoplane with all-metal framework, twin rudders and retractable landing gear. It was stress-skinned except fabric covered sections of the aft fuselage, wing and tail planes. When it became operational a number were tested in the Spanish Civil War. It was proficient enough for that conflict but had many flaws that needed to be sorted out in later versions. The first production model for the Regia Aeronautica was 253 examples. The Cicogna went on to fight in Greece, Yugoslavia, Malta and North Africa but only did well when not facing aerial opposition.
A further development, the Br.20M (Modificato) with heavier defensive guns and broader wings was developed before Italy entered World War II in June of 1940. However the Br.20M still performed poorly and production ended after 264 examples. Both versions were deployed until Italy surrendered in 1943. By then only a few were still in service.
Interestingly, Japan purchased 100 export versions of the first run Br.20s. Their deficiencies were further confirmed in the Chinese theatre. The Japanese phased them out as soon as the Mitsubishi K.21 became available.

Fiat G.50 Series I Spanish Civil War

Fiat G.50 Series I
Unit: Reparto Sperimentale G.50, Aviazione Legionaria, Escalona Spain May 1939
The FIAT G.50 Freccia (Freccia means Arrow in English) was first flown in February 1937. The G.50 was Italy's first single-seat, all-metal monoplane with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear to go into production. Pilots disliked the sliding cockpit canopy, which was not easy to open quickly. So, in later production series, an open cockpit was adopted.
The first series I aircraft were delivered to the Regia Aeronautica in 1938. An experimental unit, the Reparto Sperimentale G.50, was formed for operational evaluation of the G.50. In January 1939, the unit flew to Spain with 12 G.50's. For some reason, none of the aircraft had landing gear doors. By that time, most of the air war there was finished and the G.50s never met enemy aircraft. Very maneuverable, it was one of the best fighters during the Spanish Civil War. But by the time World War II began it was becoming obsolescent, being too slow because it was underpowered and underarmed with only two Breda-SAFAT 12,7mm machine guns.

Gauges, as far as I know, credit goes to kelticheart, mvg3d, Chalachew, Beepee, and Gius for their WWII Italian gauges.
The panel, much modified, is based on an IL-2 panel.

This pack includes nine aircraft. The Gloster F.9/37, also known as the Gloster G.39, was a British twin-engined design from the Gloster Aircraft Company for a cannon-armed heavy fighter to serve with the Royal Air Force, planned before the Second World War. It was rejected in favour of the Westland Whirlwind, but it was a delight to fly. The project was resurrect when the Air Ministry launched the Specification F.18/40, for a specialist night fighter, with four 20 mm cannons at the nose and four Browning .303 mounted in a Boulton Paul turret. Gloster redesign the fuselage and used the F.9/37 wings fitted with two Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. The project included an Airborne Interception (AI) radar and was so promising that received support from the Air Staff who saw it as superior to the Bristol Beaufighter and the Air Ministry ordered one prototype that was not built. Someone at the Air Staff saw that the turret would compromised the performance and emitted a new Air Ministry Specification, the F.29/40, with eight .303 Browning machine guns installed in a tray bellow the fuselage firing ahead supplementing the four 20 mm Hispano Suiza cannons. The project, known unofficially as the Gloster Reaper, evolved to a one seat heavy fighter configuration and was dropped so that Gloster could concentrate on existing work and on the nascent British jet projects.
